Why we need to focus on the liver
When we look at illness its hard to find a disease that isn’t connected to the liver in some way.
Want to balance your hormones? Address the liver. Want to lose weight? Address the liver. Headaches? liver. Rashes? liver. Diarrhea, constipation, bloating, heartburn, digestive disorders, thyroid imbalance, seizures, anxiety, depression, and on and on and on….address the liver.
The liver is a main part most functions of the body. There are some of the main functions that the liver plays a role in:
Blood composition: filtering the blood
Detoxification: the liver turns toxic elements into compounds can be safely and effectively removed from the body
Bile production: crucial for clearing toxins, digesting fats, and neutralizing stomach acid
Stores glycogen: this is crucial for keep blood sugar balanced and preventing hypoglycemia
Stores nutrients: fat soluble vitamins (Vitamins A, D, and E) all rely on healthy bile and liver function to be absorbed efficiently and converted into their active forms
Regulates hormones: activating hormones, clearing hormones and providing the structural backbone to create certain hormones
The list goes on. But with what we have here we can see that the liver plays a crucial role in our health. Addressing the liver is a key part of root cause health. When we chase the symptoms we are going to be playing a long game.
Hormone balancing for example often utilizes herbs, nutrients and even biological hormones to help address the symptoms often blamed on hormones. But when you have a congested liver and gallbladder you’re going to lack the ability to create healthy cholesterol which is the backbone to sex hormones. This means you’ll have a hard time making the sex hormones you need. Then on the other end of the system, you’ll have a hard time clearing the excess estrogen which creates a disproportionate ration between estrogen and progesterone.
While tools like herbs, nutrients and hormone replacement therapy can create some symptom relief, you need to be supporting the liver and gallbladder at the same time.
